Apple calls time on iPhone 4 case program

Your IT - Mobility

Apple has announced that "the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought" and so the company's free case offer to will lapse on September 30 as originally announced.

When Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the company would offer a free case or Bumper to each iPhone 4 owner in response to the widely reported issue concerning the phone's antena, he said the offer would run at least until September 30.

Apple has now stated that the qualification for that program will indeed end on that date. Only those who buy an iPhone 4 on or before September 30 will have the automatic right to claim a free case.

"We now know that the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought," company officials said. But Apple does recognise that "a small percentage of iPhone 4 users need a case" and those experiencing antenna issues will still be able to call AppleCare to request a free Bumper.

Buyers that do qualify for the free case program should use the iPhone 4 Case Program app from the App Store to order a Bumper or case within 30 days of purchase.
