IBM's $US845 million acquisition of Telelogic has been completed, following acceptance by the owners of almost 97 percent of the company's stock and approval by the various regulatory authorities.

Based in Sweden, Telelogic is a provider of enterprise lifecycle management software and services. It will initially operate as a subsidiary company, reporting into IBM's Rational Software unit.

"Telelogic is an important element of our software and systems development and delivery strategy," said Daniel Sabbah, general manager, IBM Rational Software.

"Software is at the heart of embedded devices and systems. Whether it's used to develop the next generation of communication devices or systems for space exploration, this IBM technology has important implications for society."

IBM extended the acceptance period four times before closing the deal.

No major staffing changes are planned. "IBM has high regard for Telelogic's management team and employees and intends to continue the excellent employee relations that it believes exist at Telelogic," IBM officials said in a written statement.
