Taxify hails fixed pricing as best upfront way to hail a ride

Taxify is "introducing upfront pricing in Australia with the new model to roll out in Sydney this week", with Melbourne coming in October.

Taxify. The company bills itself as "one of the world's fastest-growing ride-hailing platforms", and its fixed pricing innovation means "passengers will now be able to see the exact fare before booking a ride, rather than an estimated price range".

Sam Raciti, Taxify's Australian country manager, said: "Our riders have long appreciated being able to see a fare estimate before requesting a ride with Taxify.

“Now, we’ve gone a step further and will show passengers the exact fare for their ride before they even book it. This removes any uncertainty from the process and ensures there are no surprises.”

The company tells us the "fare will be based on the expected time and distance o the trip as well as local traffic and demand.

"If fares go up due to increased demand, the passenger will see the updated fare before booking the ride. Once booked, the fare will not change as long as the pick-up and drop-off locations remain the same.

"Taxify entered the Australian market late last year, and now operates in Sydney and Melbourne. It is used by more than 350,000 riders with tens of thousands of drivers registered across both cities.

"The Estonian start-up prides itself on putting its drivers first and offers a commission rate of just 15% (almost half that of its major competitor), meaning passengers end up paying less for their ride.

"To see the upfront pricing, users will need to update to the latest version of the Taxify app on the App Store or Google Play.

"Upfront pricing will roll out in Melbourne in the following month", Taxify concluded.
