Apple will scrap its iTunes service during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference which begins on Monday US time, a report says, adding that it would be replaced with separate services for music, video and podcasts.
The US website Rolling Stone said the move would align Apple's strategy as its iPhones and iPads already have separate apps and iTunes only exists for Macs and MacBooks.
The news agency Bloomberg said Apple would show off a new Apple Watch that is more independent of the iPhone and iPads that were geared to perform more of the functions of laptops.
It cited people who were familiar with plans for the WWDC as saying that there would be announcements around apps that run on any Apple device, augmented reality and personal healthcare management.
There was a possibility that a new Mac Pro would be shown off at the conference, the news agency said.
The new Apple Watch is expected to have watchOS 6 that will include an on-board App Store, a calculator, voice recorder and better messaging.
A number of core apps, like the Reminders and Health apps, would also receive major updates, with Find my iPhone and Find my Friend to be merged into one app.
