Is it time for a Galaxy Watch?

Samsung’s flagship Galaxy SIV is set to be announced on Thursday, but a smartwatch might just be in the mix too.

Leaked screenshots (below) already depict what is likely the operating system of a Samsung smartwatch named the Galaxy Altius.

If legitimate, these images suggest the rumoured Altius may utilize a tile-based proprietary operating system, rather than the ubiquitous Android.

StuffNZ also reported the device would likely ship with a 1.5 inch screen with a 500 x 500 resolution, which would mean a greater pixel density than Apple's iPhone 5.

Talks of smartwatches have mostly centered around Apple and its much-rumoured iWatch after a 2011 US patent was uncovered.

That Apple patent features a flexible display, something that may still take some more months or years of work.

It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for Samsung to beat Apple to a product launch these days, so stay tuned for Thursday evening when all (might) be revealed.
