Nokia's sneak peek of 'new market disrupting device' coming June 21

By

Nokia is set to take the wraps off its 'newest, soon-to-be-named' device, with a live on-site demo of the product and then the live broadcast of Nokia CEO Stephen Elop's Nokia keynote in Singapore on June 21.

With a real Nokia event invitation in my inbox that's thin on details yet, leaving the mind to conjure up a universe of speculative possibility, Nokia's June 21 announcement promises a new market disruptor.

It's a bold claim, which will hopefully be followed up by a bold and exciting product launch and technology demonstration, with possibly the one big predictable being an actual availability date months away from the announcement.

Hopefully Nokia will surprise here with an availability date that is sooner rather than later, if not immediate or quite imminent availability.

Nokia does not state if its new device is a smartphone, a tablet, a smartphone tablet, a smartphone/tablet/notebook combo device, nor does it state whether this disruptor has a setting for 3D, along with stun for the audience and kill in the marketplace for competitors.

However, we do learn that Nokia's International nDevice of mystery 'will be unveiled and demonstrated for the first time by Kurt Bonnici, product and technology marketing manager at Nokia Australia'.

Following this demo will be 'a live broadcast of Stephen Elop's keynote speech from the Nokia Connection conference in Singapore.'

Nokia has advised the press that the information is a technical session only, stating: 'Please note this will be a product demonstration only.

'In his role as product manager, Kurt will only be available to answer technical questions relating to the new device.'

What about business and market related questions of this mysterious new device?

It all concludes on page two, please read on!

To answer business related questions, Nokia has also advised that it is holding interview sessions in late June with its MD for Australia and NZ, Chris Carr.

Here Mr Carr will share 'more about the business or market related implications of the new device'.

Presumably this means answering as many or as few of the inevitable questions that will follow, especially if Nokia's new device and launch proves truly innovative and compelling.

Whether it's an upcoming new mind-blowing nPhone or WinPhone, a smoothly slim nPad or WinPad with all the ultra-elegant OS, app and cloud trimmings, or some device that looks to nFinity (or WinFinity?!) and beyond, Nokia has promised a disruptive new device.

For the sake of a vibrant and competitive market with plenty of choice, let us hope that it nGages and nThralls us all, for now is the time for all of Nokia's ideas, hopes, dreams and technological expertise to come to the aid of the company, and launch it back on the path toward a new ultra-nTuitive excellence in hardware, software and design.

With the inevitable possibility of new rumours, leaks, misdirection, speculation and more between now and the official June 21 unveiling, the world now awaits to see whether Nokia not only has what it takes to shock and awe, but whether it can successfully engage its new disruptor and game change the market back in its (and presumably Microsoft's) favour.

So, it's warp speed 9.9 on the journey to the 21st of June, where Nokia's efforts will either see the indifference or worse of stomachs that churn, or far more preferably, the adulation and it-factor that Nokia has previously known, making people's gadget-loving desires so very brightly burn.
