Huawei launches its first female smartwatches


In an overcrowded smartwatch field - where one size usually fits all - Huawei’s smartwatch female collection makes sense.

Huawei Australia, together with Vogue Australia, revealed two new editions to Huawei’s smartwatch collection designed specifically for females.

“As fashion trends continue to evolve, wearable technology is now accepted and adopted as a conscious fashion statement. As one of the leading consumer electronics brands globally, Huawei is committed to leading the way in the fusion of technology and fashion to create products that are equal parts aesthetically-appealing, versatile and practical,” Marc Di Giacomo, Head of Consumer Marketing at Huawei Australia said.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Vogue to bring our vision to life. With renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino guest editing the incredible April issue of Vogue Australia and, of course, the photographer behind our current global campaign starring Karlie Kloss, Huawei is a serious player in the fashion world with the elegant new female watch so much more than tech wearable,” he added.

Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Australia, Edwina McCann, says technology, like fashion, is something that has and will continue to form part of our personal style. “Fashion influences every aspect of our lives, so it is no surprise that we’re starting to see technology evolving to not only make our lives easier but also fit seamlessly into our everyday style.

“We’re delighted to be a part of Huawei’s ongoing mission to combine its expertise in technology with innovation in fashion in its latest range of techno-chic wearable technology,” she added.

The Huawei Watch Jewel and Elegant are available from April 20 for AUD$699 at selected Myer, Harvey Norman and Huawei Kiosks nationally.

It is available in two rose gold models with a 44mm face – the ‘Jewel’ features 68 x 1.5mm Swarovski Zirconia around the bezel, and ‘Elegant’ has a more classic look.

Both offer the sophisticated design of a classic timepiece, featuring a stylish rose-gold knurled pattern combined with a genuine Italian leather watch strap; available in either pearl white or sapphire blue.

The sapphire crystal glass has 1.4” touch-sensitive AMOLED watch face. It is powered Android Wear software and is both Android and iOS compatible. There are more than 40 customisable watch faces.

It is hand-crafted from over 130 components and is quality-tested for over 650 hours.

It has a gyroscope, accelerometer, 6-Axis motion sensor, and heart-rate monitor to offer fitness tracking abilities and automatically distinguishes between different physical activities, including walking, running and climbing.

A magnetic Pogo Pin charger fills the 300mAh Li-battery within 75 minutes.
