Maria Ranchod is one half of the co-founding, husband-and-wife team that is Maria and Lee Ranchod of Australian technology company Dog & Bone.
For those who know, Dog & Bone is Cockney rhyming slang for ‘telephone,’ and for those who don’t, you certainly know now!
The company is famous for its extremely well received range of smartphone cases for the major models, with a range of stylish cases, waterproof cases, battery cases and more.

The company’s tagline is ‘puts tech into mobile protechtion’ and that’s something that is also exemplified by the company’s foray into world-first territory with its patented, world-first Bluetooth keyless lock range called ‘Locksmart’, with the original larger version here and the even newer Locksmart Mini that can be seen here.
So, just after the 43rd anniversary of the world’s first real mobile phone call which you can read about here, we spoke to Maria Ranchod about the company, its achievements, the industry in general, some predictions, a sneak peek into one of its future products and more!
Maria explained how the company came to be, the success it has enjoyed not only in Australia but in the US, Europe and Asia, the company’s product range and how it is growing into natively designed technologies, Maria’s thoughts on the momentous anniversary, about the Internet of Things, about the future, and a bit about Lee Ranchod’s experience at the Gadget Show Live in Birmingham in the UK that was underway as we spoke earlier this week.
So - here is the interview in full. The audio is a little echo-y but that is part of the fun of Skype video interviewing, but no matter - Maria and I can both still be heard and understood - enjoy!
