Hacker Group Phantom Squad (whose Twitter handle is misspelled as PhantomSqaud) is threatening to take down the Xbox live and Playstation Live networks.
The last few days of 2014 saw hacker group the Lizard Squad cause gaming console chaos, with famed Internet identity ‘Kim Dotcom’ trying to solve the DDoS conundrum, as iTWire reported at the time.
According to noted security expert Graham Cluley, the Phantom Squad has stated:
“We are going to shut down Xbox live and PSN this year on christmas. And we are going to keep them down for one week straight #DramaAlert
“Ok think about this... Xbox Live and PSN have millions upon millions of dollars... but do they use that money for better security?
“No. PSN and Xbox don't use that money to improve their security... So until they open their eyes Xbox Live and PSN will remain vulnerable.”

Cluley warns against taking Internet threats too seriously, but nevertheless notes the Phantom Squad has already taken responsibility for Xbox Live outages ‘earlier this month’.
