Japanese news website Akihabara News announced that Sony is finally retiring its range of cassette Walkmans, which includes the TCM-400, the TCM-410 and the TCM-450. seem to have not been available in western Sony stores for some time.
The cassette Walkman will go to rest in Japan, the same place it came into the world.
The Walkman was introduce in 1979 and led to countless romantic mixtapes and homemade tapes of radio shows.
Sony continues to use the "Walkman" brand name for most of its portable audio devices, after the "Discman" name for CD players was dropped in the late 1990s.
