Software AG Announces New Asia Pacific Head

By Software AG

Software AG today announced the appointment of David Powell as President, Asia Pacific and Japan. In this role, Powell will be responsible for all sales and customer relationships of Software AG in the region, and will be based in Sydney Australia.

Powell joined Software AG in the UK in March 1995. He held a number of sales and management positions within the company prior to being appointed UK country manager in 2004.

Powell assumed responsibility for the Latin America region in 2007, starting Software AG's direct sales operation in Brazil the following year. In product revenue terms, Brazil was the second largest business for Software AG worldwide in 2010.

Involved in the IT industry since 1988, Powell spent the early years of his career selling Systems Union's financial software before working in a number of startup software and consulting companies.

Powell's appointment follows the restructuring of Software AG regional management since finalisation of the company's acquisition of German BPM specialist IDS Scheer AG on January 1st, 2011. In Australia, Bruce Beddoe (former Software AG Australia Sales Director) and Richard Kulkarni (formerly Managing Director of IDS Scheer Australia) will jointly assume responsibility for the local sales organisation. The company's Australian and regional head office based in Sydney recently relocated to larger premises in McMahon's Point to accommodate organisational growth generated by the acquisition and recent major new projects.

It also follows the announcement of record results for Software AG in 2010 - including strong results in Australia - and the realisation of its growth target to achieve 1 billion Euro in annual revenue by 2012.

Powell commented, 'I'm looking forward to life in Australia and to working with the regional team to accelerate Software AG's growth throughout Asia Pacific and Japan. Since our acquisition of IDS Scheer, Software AG is now an undisputed leader in technology, methodologies and services that assist companies to achieve business process excellence. Moving forward, we will focus on growing this part of our business as we see enormous potential for companies throughout the region to improve productivity, service levels and revenue, and to decrease costs, through process improvement'.

This has led many enterprises to build passive networks, which are inferior in quality and ultimately limit their future growth.

Why are passive solutions considered inferior? And what makes active solutions great?

Read more about these two solutions, and how PacketLight fits into all this.
