Singtel Optus has switched on six new mobile towers across the Tamworth region which will improve the 4G coverage.

Optus’ Territory general manager North West New South Wales, Chris Simon, said in a statement, “These new towers will provide a greater depth of coverage and improved capacity to the Tamworth region.

“Over the past 12 months Optus has invested $4.3 million in its mobile network across the Tamworth region having switched on sites in Attunga, Barraba Central, Hallsville, Moonbi, Piallamore, and Kingswood.”

He said the company understood how important it was for regional tourism destinations like Tamworth to have reliable mobile reception "and we’re committed to providing great coverage, choice and value to our customers across the region".

“The new towers will improve mobile coverage across their respective regions, with the new tower in Pilliamore significantly improving mobile reception and connecting the outer suburbs of Tamworth, without service disruption," Simon said.

“Optus is continuing to invest in its mobile network across the New England region, and it’s great to know that our customers are continuing to see an improving mobile network.”

“We welcome anyone looking for a new mobile phone plan or an awesome value broadband internet, home phone and TV entertainment package to come down to the Optus stores in Tamworth at Tamworth Shoppingworld or Yes Optus on Peel Street and have a chat to the team."
