Home Telecoms & NBN Amaysim's new plan: 60GB for $60 including unlimited calls and text

The race to deliver ever large amounts of data has continued raging, with Amaysim's newest plan an obvious response to competitive moves and the quest to deliver ever better customer value.

You might have heard of 5c mobile plans recently, which sound great, until you realise the plan locks you in for 12 months, with a monthly charge thereafter that wasn't as competitive as others out there.

Amaysim wasn't the first pre-paid provider out there, but it was first to offer unlimited calls and text, with a then market beating deal of 4GB per 30 days.

Although Amaysim did move to 28-day plans a few years ago, it has upped the value with no strings attached, not only with the standard "unlimited talk and text" to regular Australian mobile and landline numbers, but also the addition of international calls.

However, it is now 2018, and nearly 2019 as I type, so should it come as no surprise to see recent ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) research showing a "49% increase in smartphone data consumption in the last year alone".

So, at a time where mobile data usage surges, Amaysim, which reminds us is "Australia’s fourth largest mobile services provider", has decided to make "data usage hassle free and more affordable than ever".

Amaysim chief executive Peter O’Connell, said: “Our new $60 Unlimited mobile plan is another example of how we’re bringing simple solutions and great value to our customers. At a price point of only $1 per gig and our commitment to no lock-in contracts, Amaysim is now making mobile data usage more affordable and hassle-free on a plan that’s here to stay.”

Besides the "60GB of data, unlimited talk and text to standard AUS numbers", you also get "unlimited international calls to 10 countries including the UK, India and the US", as well as "an additional 300 international minutes to 22 further countries".

So, that's it. A total of 60GB for $60, which just makes us wonder how many gigabytes you'll get 12 months from now.

The future is the future, however, with Amaysim's latest plans here, from $10 per 28 days with 1GB of data, through to the $60 60GB plan, and everything in between.

Here's an interview with Maik Retzlaff, Amaysim’s Commercial Director of Mobile, recorded in late September, when Amaysim made its major plan changes for 2018, not including today's 60GB for $60 announcement.
