Amaysim looks to boost share of NBN market with new offer

Mobile services provider amaysim is upping the ante in its challenge for a bigger share of the NBN broadband market with the launch of a "first month free" trial offer across all of its NBN plans which it claims will break down the barriers people face when switching to the National Broadband Network.

The deal sees amaysim making its offer to all new NBN residential customers from today (19 June) until 30 June 2017.

Amaysim commercial director of broadband Rob Appel says the launch is in response to NBN Co recently revealing that less than half of the five million homes and businesses that are currently NBN-ready have actually signed up to the service, “mostly due to cost and complexity”.

“We pride ourselves on making things easier for our customers by offering amazing value NBN plans, no-lock in contracts and a brilliant online customer experience, but we get that some people may need to get hands-on with the service before they feel secure in making the move to the NBN,” Appel says.

“All too often the major providers are scaring people into making long-term commitments for a service they may not be familiar with. To help break down the barriers that might be holding people back, we’ve taken a similar approach to subscription streaming services and launched this industry-first NBN free trial.

“amaysim’s NBN plans are built on simplicity, all with unlimited data, no lock-in contracts, no standard activation fees, and the flexibility to switch between the three download speed options of up to 12, 25 and 100Mbps without penalty. The ‘first month free’ trial includes the option to bring your own modem, but customers can also purchase a pre-configured NetComm NF17ACV modem when they sign up.”

amaysim’s move to replicate its success in the MVNO mobile market in the broaband market follows its acquisition last year of Australian Broadband Services (AusBBS), a company launched in 2012.
