Telstra is selling most of its stake in Chinese car sales website Autohome to one of China’s largest insurers, Ping An Insurance Group, for A$2.1 billion (US$1.6bn).
Telstra has a big tick of approval as the best performer of all telcos in the Asia Pacific market last year, with global analyst firm IDC noting that industry specific solutions and cloud services - mainly in Australia - and its Indonesia joint venture with Telkom Indonesia helping in Telstra’s “upward push”.
Telstra’s investment juggernaut continues apace, with the big telco today announcing a strategic investment in Qiniu, a leading cloud-storage service provider that offers data hosting and processing for enterprises in China and across Asia.
