Silicon Valley reboots growth -report
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - California's Silicon Valley, which gave birth to high-tech giants Google Inc., Apple Inc. and Intel Corp., has rebooted its growth as it positions itself to be a leader on renewable energy and clean technology.

Intel 45nm CPUs to use metal gates, high-k dielectric
Intel's 45nm microprocessors will incorporate transistors constructed with metal gates and high-k dielectric materials, the chip maker revealed today. That said, it was tight-lipped about which materials will actually make up these components in its 45nm dual-core die, 'Penryn'.

Intel to extend Moore's Law with new chips in 2007
The laws of physics have threatened to bring Moore's Law to a grinding halt as transistors are shrunken to the size of a few atoms. However, Intel says it will bring new 45nm chip technology to market in 2007 that will continue to allow it to double the number of transistors on a processor. IBM plans to follow suit with its own solution in 2008.
