In what will be seen as a win for US President Donald Trump, the chip manufacturer Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is set to announce that it will be opening a factory in Arizona.
In what is one more indicator of the growing rift between the US and China, a report claims moves are being made by the Trump administration to ask semiconductor giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, the world's biggest contract chip maker, to set up a factory in the US.
The United States appears to be moving ahead with new proposals to tighten the conditions for American semiconductor companies to do business with Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor Huawei Technologies, with cabinet officials agreeing at a meeting on Wednesday to tighten things up.
