Hacking the TomTom ONE through Open Source

Gadget geeks worldwide are collaborating to make the ubiquitous TomTom GO portable satellite navigation system more useful. In contrast to other models of SatNav devices, particularly those bundled with PDAs, the GO is especially known for its simplicity: turn it on, set routes via touchscreen, and away you go (and go you do, quite literally!)

In IT, certification is a big deal. Try as professional societies like the ACM and ACS might, there’s no universal qualification – like the accountant’s CPA – that states you are recognised as competent and capable. This is where vendor certifications fill a gap.

How open is "open" when Microsoft say it?

The U.S. state of Massachusetts is considering re-instating approval for internal use of Microsoft Office 2007 after a two year ban. The draft policy is up for review until July 20.
