More power to the ACCC says AAPT

AAPT is calling for the ACCC to be given greater powers to provide regulated access to telecommunications services, to set prices for these services and the terms and condition of access and for the opportunities for its decision to be delayed and challenged by Telstra, or other telcos, to be greatly reduced.

There's good news and bad news - the good news is that AAPT is offering unlimited ADSL2+ downloads, especially for 'families'. The bad news is that you have to be Count Dracula or a shift worker to take advantage of the ‘off peak’ rate between 2am and 8am.

On the day of the $43 billion National Broadband Network announcement last week, NZ Telecom-owned service provider AAPT joined the chorus of plaudits. The next day AAPT's CEO was on national TV slamming the NBN  and FTTH as economically unviable. Are the AAPT views concerning the NBN valid or is it just another can't do telco?
