SMG sponsors Queensland Reds

By

SMG Technologies will sponsor the Queensland Reds Super Rugby team for the next two years.

Brisbane-based SMG Technologies - the company behind the SportsMed sports performance analytics system - has entered into a two-year sponsorship arrangement with the Queensland Rugby Union's Queensland Reds Super Rugby team.

The deal will expose the SportsMed brand on the team jerseys, at the stadium, and in various Queensland Rugby development programs.

"The team has successfully been utilising our sports, wellness and performance data for over six months now and it only seemed natural to further extend our relationship," said said SMG CEO Zane Hall.

The SMG software provides insights and trends based on collected data to help the players optimise their physical and mental performance.

Real-time automated alerts sent to coaching, training and medical staff.

"SMG Technology are incredibly experienced in their field and we look forward to seeing how their systems can benefit not only the Reds, but our pathways [development programs aimed at taking players from grassroots competitions to elite teams] as well," said Queensland Rugby Union executive general manager Daniel Herbert.

"We have implemented a lot of change at Queensland Rugby in the last six months and all of that has been targeted at getting the best systems and structures in place to support the Reds and ensure they have all they need to perform consistently to the best of their ability.

"SportsMed is another addition we believe will have significant benefits for our game."
