Dual ASX/NZX listed company, New Zealand’s Orion Health (NZX:OHE), has signed an agreement with the Cognizant Group, a global provider of information technology, consulting, and business process services, enabling Cognizant to deploy Orion Health’s open data platform Amadeus.

The global deal also sees Cognizant become a preferred systems integration partner of Orion Health in the US market.

Ian McCrae, Orion Health CEO, says Cognizant’s market position is strong globally and unrivalled in the US insurance sector.

“Under the agreement Cognizant will OEM Orion Health’s Amadeus Precision Medicine platform and other products such as its Rhapsody Integration Engine. It is a global arrangement but the major focus of the partnership will be the US healthcare insurance market.”

McCrae says the partnership is a significant opportunity for Orion Health. “Cognizant is deploying an impressive suite of new applications for the US market and we are excited to be the preferred partner to provide an underlying platform for this initiative.

“The US health system is moving to the practice of precision medicine because the current model of healthcare is unsustainable. This creates a significant opportunity for both Orion Health and Cognizant to bring innovative solutions to the market.”

Cognizant’s healthcare technology solutions service over half of the US’s insured population and reach more than 260,000 providers, and serves 16 of the top 20 healthcare insurers in the US, 28 of the top 30 global pharmaceutical companies, 9 of the top 10 biotech companies, and 12 of the top 15 medical device companies.
