Microsoft and CommVault launch cloud bundles

By

After working together for the last three years helping customers establish cloud based storage solutions Microsoft and CommVault have created a series of bundles that will allow people to use CommVault's information management system Simpana and Microsoft's Azure cloud for archiving, back-up and recovery.

For about $50,000 users can have access to up to 62 Terabytes of Azure storage and the Simpana 9 Express toolset.  Paul McClure, CommVault's product manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, said that larger bundles of storage were also available.

He said the bundles were targeted both at small and medium businesses looking to move all their backup and recovery to the cloud, and larger enterprises which might be looking at using the service for specific archiving requirements.

Mr McClure said that the companies were already working with a number of likely early adopters of the bundles in Australia, although he declined to name any of the companies involved.

Two configurations are available - 62 TB of non-geo replicated Azure Storage or 41 TB of Standard Azure Storage for $50,000 per year. Pricing scales up for larger configurations - for example 124TB of non geo replicated storage will cost around $100,000.
