IntraPower and friends help keep businesses online during the big mop-up

By

A group of ICT companies is working to help flooded Queensland businesses get up and running again with free and discounted services.

Flooded offices and data centres have made it difficult for some Queensland businesses to keep running.

IntraPower's Business On-Demand customers have received uninterrupted service, and COO Darc Rasmussen said the company has some capacity to provide immediate emergency support for as many non-customers as it could effectively assist. This would help businesses gain rapid access to their emails, get a fully operational Virtual Desktop and potentially restore data and IT systems without having to replace failed hardware, he said.

"Many Queensland businesses are struggling to resume operations after floods destroyed their IT systems and data or shut down offices and sub-standard data centres," Mr Rasmussen said.

A number of other companies including Telstra Wholesale, Data Outsource and BigAir are working alongside IntraPower to provide free and discounted IT assistance to flood-affected businesses in Brisbane and elsewhere.

BMT WBM, Consulting Engineers and Scientists, has donated fully furnished office space for more than 90 people in Spring Hill, an inner suburb of Brisbane. BigAir has donated a high-capacity wireless link between the BMT WBM office and IntraPower so the latter can provide free Internet access via a high-speed terrestrial link made available by Telstra on a concessional basis.

For flood-affected businesses that have already found somewhere to work, InterPower is offering free email services and a 40% discount on virtual desktops (including Microsoft Office) and virtual servers, all subject to available capacity. Interested parties can call IntraPower on 1300 136 741, email bod@intrapower.com.au or enquire via the company's web site.
