Equinix accelerates Sydney data centre expansion

By

Data centre operator Equinix is expanding its Sydney 3 data centre six months ahead of schedule.

Equinix has begun the expansion of its third Sydney International Business Exchange data centre. Phase one opened last year, and the works under phase two will double the number of cabinets to 2000.

'Responding to increased demand from the cloud and financial services community, we're committed to make an additional 1,000 cabinets in SY3 available as early as September 2012, six months ahead of schedule,' said Tony Simonsen, country manager, Equinix Australia.

All three of the company's Sydney data centres have been externally audited to ISO 27001.
