Global cloud infrastructure as a service provider OVH has announced a network upgrade and new offers as part of its extensive expansion plans in the Asia Pacific region.

OVH says with continuous investment and development on its APAC network, it has carried out technical upgrades to reduce latency and improve the efficiency of online solutions to, or from, Australia and South-East Asia locations.

According to OVH, in the last year, the overall Asia-Pacific network connectivity has been improved from 40Gbps to 400Gbps, and, in addition, it has also invested in 100Gbps links to connect to other locations and PoPs (Points of Presence).

OVH says the upgrades will now enable it to increase the service availability and security by nullifying DDoS attacks.

“To improve the performance and security of our network, we added the new core routers in the Sydney and Singapore data centres. Each router delivers up to 5760 million packets per second (Mpps) and they carry up to 4.8Tbps of routing capacity,” said Florian Valette, network lead engineer, for the APAC region.

OVH says it continues its commitment to "democratise" the high-performance network for Internet infrastructures in Asia-Pacific and:

  • Is now able to provide a dedicated server with a 5TBpm traffic starting from A$75/month.
  • Enterprise customers also have access to vRack (Private Secure Network), to build their global network and replicate, for example, their Australian-based server, in Europe (France, UK, etc.), with a 1Gbps unlimited connection for less than A$349 a month.

And in addition OVH says the network upgrades bring to customers:

  • More reliability: Guaranteed quality of service and improved the protection against DDoS attacks.
  • Better latency: Reduce the latency with the mains ISP and the OVH data centres to ensure optimum performances.
  • Increased capacity: Predict users’ bandwidth needs and avoid congestion risks.
