Cohesity protects AWS Outposts

Data management vendor Cohesity has validated Cohesity DataPlatform and Cohesity DataProtect software on AWS Outposts.

AWS's newly announced Outposts essentially put a private piece of the AWS cloud onto the customer's premises.

The Cohesity platform is designed to reduce backup costs and simplify data management operations.

The software provides a single user interface across hybrid environments with global visibility, search, and recovery for data across multiple AWS Regions and AWS Outposts.

It provides agent or snapshot based backups, and can back up EC2 and VMware instances running on Outposts to S3, as well as non-Outposts workloads. This means it can back up Outposts to S3 with no additional backup infrastructure.

Global deduplication, compression, and direct integration to all Amazon S3 storage classes, including Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive help reduce storage and data transfer costs.

“Cohesity is excited to offer our disruptive data management solutions to AWS Outposts customers. Our design philosophy aligns well with AWS, empowering customers to back up, protect, store, and manage their data wherever they choose — on-premises or in the cloud — through one platform with a single UI,” said Cohesity vice president of alliances Terry Ramos.

“Cohesity DataProtect and Cohesity DataPlatform offerings are tested and validated to support AWS Outposts and are available today.”
