SolarWinds introduces Synthetic End User Monitor for comprehensive internal, SaaS and cloud web transaction monitoring and alerts

SYDNEY - Aug. 18, 2011. SolarWinds® Inc. (NYSE: SWI), a leading provider of powerful and affordable IT management software, today announced the availability of its latest application management offering, SolarWinds Synthetic End User Monitor. This new product helps systems administrators and application support professionals monitor multi-step web-based transactions in mission-critical applications.

With an easy-to-use recorder, Synthetic End User Monitor delivers affordable cloud-based and internal web application monitoring that allows users to respond to transaction problems before customers see them. It monitors web applications through synthetic user tests, reporting on duration and success. Alerts are sent if there are issues with completing transactions, providing expected results, or timing. The cost isn't based on frequency like many other synthetic monitoring products, so users can run transactions as often as they like, minimising downtime.

'Synthetic End User Monitor provides reliable and affordable web application monitoring, with the best, most easy-to-use recorder on the market, at a fraction of the price,' said Sanjay Castelino, SolarWinds' VP Product Marketing and Product Management. 'It also provides the option to monitor mission-critical internal applications, an area that is ignored by most of our competitors.'

When combined with SolarWinds Application Performance Monitor (APM), Synthetic End User Monitor looks at issues from the customer point-of-view, while APM monitors servers and services from the inside. Together, they help the user understand the status of their system, and more accurately pinpoint problems. SolarWinds also announced Web Transaction Watcher today, a free tool that allows the recording of one web transaction, with the option to replay every 30 minutes to let users know if there is a problem. Web Transaction Watcher recordings will not need to be re-recorded if users decide they need to upgrade to Synthetic End User Monitor.

SolarWinds Synthetic End User Monitor Key Features:

'¢ Affordable web application transaction monitoring

'¢ Easy-to-use recorder is as simple as using your application like an end-user

'¢ Know if there is a problem before users do, minimise application downtime

'¢ Ensure you are getting the most out of your slice of the cloud

'¢ Monitor cloud, SaaS, and internal applications

'¢ Ability to deploy recorders to various locations

Customer Testimonial from Evan Marks, Infrastructure Manager at COCC, Inc., an information technology service for banks and credit unions:

'We were impressed by Synthetic End User Monitor's ease of use; I didn't have to read anything in order to install, configure, or record my first transaction and start monitoring. It was up and running in 20 minutes. It allows us to monitor performance levels at different times of the day, week, and month '” enabling us to appropriately allocate infrastructure over time for the most cost-effective web application performance.

'We plan to deploy multiple recorders within our data center, and possibly onsite for our hosting clients. Synthetic End User Monitor may enable us to identify an issue with a client's network performance even before their own IT department is aware of it. Recently, one of our partner sites was unavailable for an extended period during the early morning hours. Because the Synthetic End User Monitor provided alerts and screenshots from our partner's site, I knew that their site was down for maintenance, and didn't need to investigate further.

'With Synthetic End User Monitor, I can drill down to specific pages within our web applications for better visibility on the causes of slowdowns and other problems.'

Pricing and Availability

SolarWinds Synthetic End User Monitor is available now and pricing starts at $A2,525, with the first year of maintenance included. For more information, visit the SolarWinds website, download a free 30-day evaluation, or call 1.866.530.8100.
