INTERVIEW & WEBINAR INVITE Thursday September 3rd 2020 - 1:00pm AEST - The Transformative Cloud Collaboration Model

INTERVIEW PROMOTION Glenn Irvine is the Head of Cloud and Emerging Technologies for Dialog Information Technology and is presenting a webinar explaining ways any organisation can move to the cloud.  Glenn will be speaking about the adoption of collaboration technologies and the analyst findings from Gartner and Forrester during the recent COVID crisis.

Enterprises of all sizes have been aware they must inevitably adopt cloud technologies, but the path is not always simple for established organisations with a build-up of legacy infrastructure and applications. With COVID-19 response plans seeing workers locked down around the world it’s significantly more front-of-mind now than ever before.

In his webinar on September 3rd, Irvine will speak about the ways companies can approach their cloud journey and the things they need to be thinking about.

For example, Irvine says, "some organisations got stuck when COVID-19 came in because their contact centre was stuck in their building. They forwarded calls to mobiles but lost all the functionality of contact centres.”

By contrast, "the Netflix contact centre runs on Chromebooks with RingCentral and headsets and can operate at home with their cloud telephony solution. The ability to scale to Netflix shows it is possible, but for a lot of companies, it took something like COVID-19 to really kick the message in,” Irvine says.

Irvine's department at Dialog focuses on cloud-native, world-leading products, with a strong focus on collaborative technology that touches all people in the organisation.

Irvine has been helping companies move to the cloud for nine years, with a bite-sized staged approach which has been proven and refined over this time.

"Telecommuting has been around for years and my team works that way, but now we see a massive explosion and uptake of Zoom and Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. It’s amazing something like a pandemic can drive two key technologies - cloud and video-conferencing in that short timeframe simply because of necessity,” Irvine says.

Glenn Irvine's webinar on cloud adoption approaches is running on September 3rd, and more details are here on iTWire.

Active Vs. Passive DWDM Solutions

An active approach to your growing optical transport network & connectivity needs.

Building dark fibre network infrastructure using WDM technology used to be considered a complex challenge that only carriers have the means to implement.

This has led many enterprises to build passive networks, which are inferior in quality and ultimately limit their future growth.

Why are passive solutions considered inferior? And what makes active solutions great?

Read more about these two solutions, and how PacketLight fits into all this.
