AVG (AU/NZ) Increases resellers, Grows Sales by 80%

AVG (AU/NZ), distributor of the award-winning AVG Anti-Virus and Internet Security products, is pleased to announce reseller sales increased by more than 80 per cent in 2008, thanks to an aggressive relationship-building programme in the distribution channel.

 

AVG (AU/NZ) Managing Director Peter Cameron said AVG now has more than 2,100 resellers across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, which represents a 78 per cent increase over reseller numbers a year ago.

“2008 was an outstanding year for us, with excellent growth in the SMB market and strong indications this trend will continue throughout 2009,” Cameron said. He pointed to a recent survey in which almost 90 per cent of resellers said they expect to increase sales of AVG products in 2009, with one in five expecting to more than double their AVG sales.

“We are making a substantial investment to support our channel partners with additional sales resources and streamlined processes to help them capitalise on AVG’s increased popularity in the market,” he said.

Reseller Margins Increased for Credit Card Purchases

AVG (AU/NZ) has made life easier for partners by removing the surcharge for reseller credit card payments and outsourcing its credit provision to Moneytech, which offers credit limits of up to A$25,000 via its DealerCard facility.

Marketing Manager Lloyd Borrett said the company took decisive action after the surcharge came up as an issue in the company’s recent Reseller Survey.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in resellers paying by credit card since the surcharge was removed in October and feedback from our partners has been extremely positive,” said Borrett. “Plus, this arrangement with Moneytech allows our channel partners to have access to credit terms. Resellers can pay for their AVG product purchases online and receive up to 30 days’ interest free credit with flexible payments up to 120 days, easing cash flow and giving them greater control over their finances.”

Customer Demand Drives Growth

AVG (AU/NZ) believes the rapid growth has been driven by demand from its many consumer, SMB and enterprise customers. “The best and most substantive partnerships are always customer-driven, and 84 per cent of our new customers are switching from another product,” Borrett said.

“This shows the maturity of the security marketplace and underlines that AVG‘s value proposition is powerful enough to overcome people‘s inherent resistance to change. Our resellers recognise that AVG consumer and business solutions solve real security issues for their customers and are tapping into a stream of people dissatisfied with other vendors‘ solutions.

“The introduction of the real-time safe search and surf AVG LinkScanner technology into the AVG 8.0 product range early in 2008 has positioned AVG as a leader in the war against online web threats,” Borrett continued. “When cyber criminals switched to using web threats as their preferred attack mechanism, AVG quickly brought to market the only truly effective, real-time solution against these new and rapidly increasing hazards. We look forward now to AVG Technologies‘ acquisition of Sana Software delivering similar benefits.
