Campus Living Villages Wins NetSuite Hairball Award for Best Enterprise Deployment

Australia-based global student accommodation specialist, Campus Living Villages (CLV), has won the Best Enterprise Deployment award at NetSuite's inaugural annual Hairball Award ceremony at SuiteCloud 2010, NetSuite's annual partner conference held in San Francisco on Thursday, April 15. Melissa Montgomery, CLV USA's Director of Financial Reporting, accepted the award.

Campus Living Villages was honoured for achieving breakthrough enterprise-class business performance when it eliminated its IT hairball by replacing MYOB with NetSuite and consolidating nearly 40 ERP instances, multiple ledgers and multiple Charts of Accounts.

The global leader in quality student accommodation for higher education institutions, Campus Living Villages has 170+ subsidiaries around the world.

Campus Living Villages' IT Applications Manager, Andrew Stewart, is overseeing the global implementation of the NetSuite system. He considers it a real honour to have won the award.

'One of the most enjoyable aspects of the past 12 months has been working with a team of such strong individuals. The real success story here is how well CLV and NetSuite's global teams have worked together to achieve a common outcome,' he says.

'Before we implemented NetSuite we faced many challenges, including multiple ledgers, multiple Charts of Accounts and infrequent exports from ledgers into an OLAP reporting tool. This all led to a lack of visibility from corporate down to subsidiary level. We now have a single view of the truth across the business and operate on a single Chart of Accounts.

'The flexible and extensible architecture of NetSuite has enabled us to set the bar high, and to date the challenges have been tackled head on by all concerned.'

Zach Nelson, Chief Executive Officer of NetSuite, says, "The Hairball Awards are a light-hearted approach to a very serious problem facing businesses of all sizes today '” the fact that literally thousands of organisations are painfully gagging on their inefficient, tangled mass of complex, expensive enterprise software systems. We recognise those who have coughed up their biggest on-premise software hairballs and are now reaping the benefits of cloud computing business management suites."

About the Hairball Awards

The 'Hairballs' are a new customer award program recognising businesses that have achieved major cost savings and productivity gains with the aid of cloud computing. By moving to the cloud, these companies have been able to disentangle their organisations from a complex, disparate cluster of conventional, on-premise software'”or as NetSuite would call it, 'the hairball of applications and middleware that hinders productivity and drives up costs due to brittle integration, incompatible processes, low productivity and high maintenance costs.' For the complete list of winners, please visit www.netsuite.com/winners .

Nominees for the Hairball Awards were chosen from among thousands of NetSuite's customers who have found success and created value by increasing the efficiency of their operating practices with the NetSuite solution. They demonstrate the strong economic case for a professionally managed, tightly integrated enterprise software platform, which eliminates the complexity and restrictions of multiple software products.
