DuckDuckGo releases private web search app for iOS

By

If you want to surf anonymously on your iOS device DuckDuckGo may be the answer.

iTWire reviewed DuckDuckGo and for all intents and purposes it can replace Google and Bing.

I don’t mind using it and do find myself using Google far less.

DuckDuckGo’s search traffic has “skyrocket following the reveal of PRISM, increasing upwards of 90 percent since the NSA leak on June 6. When users search on DuckDuckGo, they are anonymous. DuckDuckGo does not store personal information, so its data is of no use to the government,” says CEO Gabriel Weinberg.

DuckDuckGo has released its free iOS mobile app: DuckDuckGo Search & Stories. Like the desktop version, the mobile app also allows users to search anonymously. The app’s two core features are: (1) Search – a better search with instant answers so you find what you want in fewer clicks, and (2) Stories – the most interesting news from across the web curated by hand and crowd-sourced based on strong social value. Stories are also de-duplicated, stripped of any depressing content and feature only the most compelling, fun images.
