Ever been to the Melbourne Cricket Ground and found yourself overwhelmed by just how large it is? A new, official iPhone app released yesterday by the MCC should help.

Going on the notion that the ground is the 'People's Ground,' the free application available for iPod Touch and iPhone devices allows users to view interactive maps of the 'G, discover food outlets, toilets, bars and merchandise stores and get directions to your seat.

The app also embraces social media '” you can quickly check in to Facebook Places within the app, and find out if your Facebook friends are in the ground.

Despite the app '” developed by nextdigital '” only being released yesterday, it's already managed to gain 5-star reviews from a number of happy customers although questions have been asked regarding any forthcoming Android editions.

According to the MCG official Twitter account, work will soon be underway to build an Android counterpart, telling one user;

'We'll wait and see the reviews and feedback of iPhone version before we jump into Android, etc. But it's on the agenda.'
