VIDEO interview: Fernando Serto talks Akamai's financial services SOTI report

By

Is the state of security stuffed? Well, with security credential stuffing attacks one of the big dangers this year, we spoke to Akamai's APJ Head of Security Technology and Strategy, Fernando Serto.

We recently covered the news Serto was quoted in, Akamai's Vol 4, Issue 4 State of the Internet Report.

You can read about that report in our recent article entitled "Akamai SOTI report: financial services industry under constant attack from automated tools".

We also had the chance to talk to Serto directly; he kindly offered to answer some questions on the state of Internet security in late 2018.

Here's the interview in full, followed by a wrap of the questions posed:

I started by introducing Serto, and asked him to start by reminding us about everything Akamai in 2018, and how he and the company helps its customers.

Then we moved on to Akamai's State of the Internet reports and how long they've been around, and how useful they are to companies today to take real notice and advantage of.

We then spoke specifically about the latest Vol 4 Issue 4 report, looking at Security Credential Stuffing attacks. We looked at what these attacks are, why are they a danger, and why are financial institutions being targeted by this style of attack.

Serto explained how Australia compares globally for credential stuffing and botnets.

We then looked at the state of affairs in the wider cyber security landscape circa Q4 2018, and where Australia sits in relation to other markets.

We then looked at the future, great advice Serto had received in life, and his final message to iTWire viewers and readers, and Akamai's current and future customers and partners.
