Fortinet and Unisys add to AWS security products

Fortinet and Unisys have both made additions to their products aimed at helping AWS customers improve their security.

Fortinet has announced three additional native integrations with AWS.

New managed rules for AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF), providing customers with more flexibility by allowing combinations of WAF rulesets to optimise security for each application.

FortiGate-VM integration with AWS CloudFormation simplifies manual configuration modifications and provides a seamless way to create, update and delete resources in AWS environments.

Support for Amazon VPC Ingress Routing enhancements in products including FortiGate-VM, FortiWeb-VM and FortiMail-VM eliminates complicated routing workarounds and network address translation schemes, and enables programmatic and selective inbound traffic routing and distribution.

"The cloud provides a number of business-critical benefits, and having the right security solutions in place is key in successful cloud operations," said Fortinet executive vice president of product and chief marketing officer John Maddison.

"As organisations increasingly leverage AWS, our collaboration to deliver cybersecurity solutions on the cloud helps to enhance security and allow organisations to reap the full breadth of benefits the cloud provides."

Unisys announced two new CloudForte features that are available on AWS.

The Cloud Compliance Director feature of CloudForte automates cloud security posture management. It incorporates a continually updated database of key security regulations and constantly monitors for compliance, and provides a dashboard showing the status.

The Cloud Architecture Navigator feature conforms to the AWS Well-Architected Framework approach and supports the continual review and optimisation of cloud implementations against changing technology and workload requirements, with a focus on cost, security, performance, reliability and operations.

"Respondents to the inaugural Unisys Cloud Success Barometer study indicated that their cloud implementations would benefit from a comprehensive roadmap to ensure the right architectural framework at the outset, airtight security and consistent regulatory compliance – all qualities required to 'do cloud right'," said Unisys cloud CTO Raj Raman.

"These new CloudForte capabilities enable organisations using AWS to achieve that objective while leveraging automation for significant economies of scale and cost."
