Microsoft cloud customers using multi-factor authentication have been locked out of their accounts since Monday morning US time, the company's own status pages indicate.

The Azure status page said the issues had begun at 04.39 UTC (3.39pm Monday AEDT).

Since that time, customers in European, Asia-Pacific and North American regions had problems signing into Azure resources such as Azure Active Directory for which MFA was required as a policy.

There were indications that a hotfix was being readied to be applied, but there was no feedback on whether this had gone ahead or not, though an update was promised within an hour.

The Office 365 status page said an update would be provided by 9pm UTC (8am Tuesday AEDT) but nothing has yet been said. The Office 365 status page said an update would be provided by 9pm UTC (8am Tuesday AEDT) but nothing has yet been said.

A recent update says there will be an indication of where things are at by Tuesday midnight UTC (11am AEDT Wednesday).
