Tranya Rimor True Wireless earbuds

By

Emerging audio products brand, Tranya, has released its newest Bluetooth 5.0 true wireless earbuds, named the Rimor.

Tranya is a brand you may not be familiar with; the company is still young but brings a passion for audio quality. Tranya began life when founder Taylor Zhang could not find the perfect set of earphones and set about making his own.

Tranya now has six products on the market, all reasonably priced Bluetooth earbuds that come with durable charging carry cases, varying in certain specifications.

The latest of these is the Tranya Rimor designed to be an acoustically immersive experience to on-the-go audiophiles, listed at $79.95 RRP. Tranya offers a 10% discount if you visit their website and sign up for their newsletter, and you can find different pricing elsewhere like Amazon.

On first appearance the Rimor is a stylish and sleek unit, coming in a well-designed box with protection for the earbuds and a separate compartment for the USB-C charging cable. The charging case is solid but stylish, with a USB-C socket and four small charging lights to indicate progress.

The USB-C charger is fast, giving 90 minutes of audio time within 10 minutes, and fully charging the earbuds within one hour and the case within two hours. The case has a 500mAh battery and the earbuds 50mAh, which all combines to mean you get five hour’s audio time from a full charge of the earbuds, and can extend this by an extra 20 hours using the case before you need to completely recharge both. That covers an entire flight between Perth and London, or Sydney and Dallas, or nearly a drive from Sydney to Townsville.

Using the earbuds is a snap. Pairing is as simple as you could want. I picked the earbuds up out of the charging case for the first time, and before I could think how to put them in pairing more I saw they were flashing blue and red already. I opened the Bluetooth settings on my phone, saw Rimor, paired with it, and that was it.

Now, it really should be this easy with any Bluetooth device but in practice it’s not; you invariably have to decipher how to put a device into pairing mode and sometimes it will not pair the first time for peculiar and unknown reasons. Happily, with the Rimor it worked immediately out-of-the-box with no fuss.

The earbuds fitted snuggly, the tip slipping into the ear canal and the body snapping into place within the rest of the ear. Unlike other earbuds which slide into the canal only, this provided a firm fit. I had no concern the Rimor buds would come out, no matter how active I was. To help with getting the right fit small, medium and large interchangeable tips are available.

These are good things but ultimately what matters is how it sounds - and in this case, the Rimor was excellent with surprisingly clear audio, crisp microphone pickup, and background noise removal for such a small package. As such, it represents excellent value, comparable with earbuds selling for several hundred dollars.

Tranya states the 10mm nano-titanium coated dynamic driver reproduces highly-accurate and rich sounds with three times the detail than a typical 6mm driver, experiencing sound in great depth without distortion. They say this makes it perfect for listening to jazz, pop, rock, country, folk, classical and other types of music, and it reproduces basses, mids and trebles in crystal-clear quality from 20Hz to 20,000Hz.

I don't have the capacity to measure these technical details, but definitely enjoyed the listening experience for myself. I walked playing music and podcasts, and making phone calls, with dropouts or pops or hisses, and with comfort and clarity. It was a pleasure to use these earbuds. I expected they would reproduce audio well, but was truly surprised by how well the microphone worked.

Tranya notes if you register the earbuds with them they will extend your standard 12 months warranty by an additional three months, giving 15 months of coverage.

If you're looking for a quality set of earbuds the Tranya Rimor deserves a place on your list.

Specifications are:

  1. Touch-controlled microphone
  2. 10mm titanium driver reproducing audio from 20Hz to 20000Hz - 3x more detailed than a typical 6mm driver
  3. Realtek Bluetooth 5.0 audio codec
  4. Passive noise cancellation, with environmental noise cancelling on the microphone to filter background noises out
  5. Dual-master earbud design - use them in stereo or either one in mono mode
  6. IPX5 water and sweat resistant
  7. Under 5g weight per earbud
  8. USB-C charging
  9. Large, medium and small ear-tips available to help ensure the best fit for your ear
  10. Multi-functional touch-sensitive buttons - touch the earbuds to play, pause, skip, increase and decrease volume, manage phone calls and activate the voice assistant through different combinations of presses and holds
