Optus seals reseller deal on NBN services

Optus Wholesale has partnered with telecommunications systems and solutions provider BTB Australia in an exclusive National Broadband Network reseller agreement.

Under the agreement, Optus will deliver NBN access which BTB Australia will on-sell to its major retail energy client, WINconnect.

John Castro, vice-president, sales and marketing, Optus Wholesale, said, “This relationship is unique in that it highlights the support existing NBN resellers or potential resellers can access to enter the NBN market without building a telecommunications business from scratch.”

Castro says the partnership enables WINconnect to offer NBN services as part of its interactions with retail customers.

“When people move house, WINconnect will be able to offer their energy services in addition to NBN. Delivering these essential home services, bundled together is a great way to add value for customers and delivering services they need without them having to engage with multiple suppliers,” Castro said.

Brendon Brackin, managing director, BTB Australia, said the partnership between WINconnect and BTB highlights “how easy it is to enter the NBN market by partnering with BTB”.

“The partnership between BTB and Optus presents an opportunity for many brands and companies to enter a large segment of the telecommunications market with very little obstruction or capital investment.”

According to Optus, potential new resellers are able to leverage BTB’s back-end operations while they focus on sales and marketing, with BTB providing a white label service delivering customer service, technical support, billing, debt collection, network design and a finished NBN product.

RECOVERING FROM RANSOMWARE

Ransomware is a type of malware that blocks access to your files and systems until you pay a ransom.

The first example of ransomware happened on September 5, 2013, when Cryptolocker was unleashed.

It quickly affected many systems with hackers requiring users to pay money for the decryption keys.

Find out how one company used backup and cloud storage software to protect their company’s PCs and recovered all of their systems after a ransomware strike.
