Liberal win sparks return to hiring, but not in government sector

The election win by the Coalition has increased business confidence and re-activated hiring programs in the private sector, but the new found-optimism doesn’t appear to have extended to the government sector, according to newly published research.

The report by specialist technology recruiter, Greythorn, says that 40% of hiring managers surveyed believed the Lideral party’s electon win “will have a positive effect on their business.”

Greythorn conducted the survey of 1,100 hiring managers in November.

According to Greythorn. Hiring Manager Managers are also much more optimistic about the future of the economy in 2014, with 46% taking a positive view.

Unfortunately this optimism does not extend to the government sector, according to Greythorn ACT Director, Lisa Kinney, with 32% of government hiring managers “pessimistic about the impact of the Liberal Party within their Department.”

"This lack of optimism is likely due to the new Government still being in the transition stage and the yet to be understood full impact of the permanent and non-ongoing (temporary employees) hiring freeze."

But, Kinney said it's not all bad news, with 24% of government sector respondents planning on increasing headcount in 2014.
