Disaster-recovery-as-a-service vendor Zerto has appointed 30-year IT industry veteran Mark Spencer as its first channel manager for Australia and New Zealand.

In a statement, the company said Spencer had held key channel sales and senior management roles, including that of general manager ANZ at Falconstor, channel director ANZ at Trend Micro, channel manager ANZ at Gigamon, and channel manager at Websense.

Zerto ANZ country manager Sean Abbott said Spencer’s appointment signified an important milestone for the company as it looked to grow its channel presence in the region.

“Our commitment to customers in Australia and New Zealand is paramount and we are dedicated to ensuring our customers receive the best support and advice through our valued channel partners," Abbott said.

"Spencer’s experience in security, data protection and storage virtualisation put him in a strong position to support and work with our resellers on delivering Zerto’s leading IT resilience technologies to customers in this region.”

Said Spencer: "Today’s digital economy requires organisations to be accessible to customers 24/7. The inability to do so can have detrimental effects on the business both from a reputation and financial standpoint.

“In my role as Zerto’s channel manager, I’ll be working closely with our partners to help our customers build robust IT systems, so they can recover quickly without compromising any interruption to services.”

Zerto has relationships with Microsoft, HPE, IBM and AWS and works with more than 100 cloud providers and resellers in Australia and New Zealand, including Zettagrid, Datacom and VMTech.
