The Australian Government announced Malone’s reappointment for a further three-year term on Thursday. His reappointment commences from 20 April.
Malone, who founded iiNet, Western Australia’s first Internet service provider, and also founded .auDA, the industry body for all .au domain names, has served on the NBN Co board since April 2016.
Communications Minister Mitch Fifield and Finance Minister Mathias Cormann said Malone had a deep understanding of the company, as well as the telecommunications market.
“His business acumen and experience in telecommunications services and infrastructure, including as founder and former CEO of Internet provider iiNet, will continue to be a valuable asset for the board,” they said.
Fifield and Cormann said they looked forward to Malone’s ongoing contribution to the board as it delivered fast, reliable broadband to all Australian homes and businesses by 2020.
