Technology consultancy Cevo has opened a new office in Canberra to service its public sector clients and appointed former Hewlett-Packard and Telstra Purple senior technology executive David Cooper as general manager of the office.

The investment in the Canberra office comes 18-months after Cevo’s expansion into the Sydney market and the recent appointment of George Stavrakakis as General Manager for Victoria to continue development and growth of the business in that region.

Cooper previously served as Chief Technologist for Hewlett-Packard’s Enterprise Group Public Sector and joins Cevo from Telstra Purple, where he has led the national team in delivering strategic public cloud transformation programs with commercial enterprise and public sector customers.

“Having Dave join the Cevo leadership team represents a significant milestone for Cevo and will help us deliver on our strategic growth initiatives in the public sector and beyond,” said director, Nicki Bowers.

“As an AWS Public Sector Partner, we are committed to building pathways for local talent with a focus on building public cloud awareness, providing education and developing skills at all levels of Government.”

“2020 marks a tipping point in Australia’s digital economy. Our Federal and State Governments face a once-in-a-generation challenge to adapt and pivot their services and delivery models to a new digital normal, whilst working with heavily scrutinised budgets and the reality of increasing global security risks,” Cooper said.

“It is for this reason that I am truly excited to be establishing the Canberra office for Cevo, an Australian leader in the enablement and delivery of resilient digital innovation.

“Cevo’s local talent and intellectual property, combined with global technology partners like Amazon Web Services and VMware, present a unique and timely opportunity to support Government in their mission to efficiently accelerate resilient and secure digital innovation at scale.”

Now’s the Time for 400G Migration

The optical fibre community is anxiously awaiting the benefits that 400G capacity per wavelength will bring to existing and future fibre optic networks.

Nearly every business wants to leverage the latest in digital offerings to remain competitive in their respective markets and to provide support for fast and ever-increasing demands for data capacity. 400G is the answer.

Initial challenges are associated with supporting such project and upgrades to fulfil the promise of higher-capacity transport.

The foundation of optical networking infrastructure includes coherent optical transceivers and digital signal processing (DSP), mux/demux, ROADM, and optical amplifiers, all of which must be able to support 400G capacity.

With today’s proprietary power-hungry and high cost transceivers and DSP, how is migration to 400G networks going to be a viable option?

PacketLight's next-generation standardised solutions may be the answer. Click below to read the full article.
