Balaskas now the boss at Motorola Solutions

By

Motorola Solutions has appointed Con Balaskas as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

Balaskas's predecessor, Steve Crutchfield, is moving into a expanded government and public safety leadership role across the Asia Pacific region.

"Con has led some of Motorola Solutions' largest and most complex projects including the planning and delivery of our significant public safety programs in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia," Crutchfield said.

"His strong relationships with Motorola Solutions' customers and team members throughout Australia and New Zealand will serve him well in his new role."

Balaskas joined the company in 2000 as a systems network engineer and subsequently progressed though increasingly senior management positions. He has been recognised as playing a pivotal role in the development of Motorola Solutions' managed services business.

He chairs Motorola Solutions' inclusion and diversity council. The company earned its first certification as an employer of choice from Australia's Workplace Gender Equality Agency in 2019.

Despite taking on the MD role, Balaskas will continue to directly lead the company's solutions team.

Earlier in his career, Balaskas worked as a network engineering manager at Optus Vision, and as a field engineer at Philips.

He hold a masters degree in business management from Monash University.
