Håkan Eriksson has been appointed Head of Strategy for Region South East Asia and Oceania for Ericsson, effective Jan 1 2016.

Sam Saba, Ericsson Head of Region South East Asia and Oceania, said, “Eriksson brings experience to this role, from his most recent position as Head of Australia and New Zealand, and his years as the Ericsson Group Chief Technology Officer and President of Ericsson Silicon Valley."

In the region, Ericsson has over 4000 employees to support more than 35 major fixed and mobile telecom operators and a growing number of TV broadcasters, utilities and government public safety customers.

”Under Håkan’s leadership our Australian business has achieved a number of significant world’s firsts, the most recent being the first demonstration of 1Gbps using 5 carrier aggregation over Telstra’s mobile network," said Saba.

"Additionally, Håkan has been overseeing the successful roll out of the nbn fixed wireless network across rural and regional Australia, with more than 1,400 sites acquired and 1,000 sites ready for service, delivering 268k premises and 47k activations to date.

"These achievements strengthen the digital opportunities for all Australians,” said Saba.

”As a technology solution provider at heart I am looking forward to working with operators on capturing growth opportunities as well as working with new customers and industry stakeholders to help drive the transformation of industries and society, particularly in the utilities, public safety and transport sectors,” said Eriksson.
