Wi-Fi package the prize in competition for schools

Does your school need a (better) WLAN? A $25,000 package is up for grabs from Meru and Wavelink.

One of Meru's main selling points is that its WLAN gear provides good performance in congested environments, such as in schools where dozens of users tend to begin network-intensive operations at much the same time.

Along with its Australian distributor Wavelink, the company is running a competition giving one school the chance to win a $25,000 package of Meru gear and associated services.

The prize consists of 20 AP320i dual radio, 802.11n access points, an MC1500 controller licensed for use with 20 access points (expandable to 30), a site survey and coverage planning, installation, and support for one year.

"Mobile computing initiatives are changing the way children learn in K-12 environments. Laptop carts, video learning and one-to-one computing programs have combined with small IT teams and shrinking budgets to drive the need for a high density, simple to manage and intelligent wireless network," said Wavelink managing director Ilan Rubin.

"A reliable network can mean the difference between wasted class time and a session that rapidly engages students in a rich educational experience. Meru Networks makes wireless networks that simply work, letting teachers focus on teaching instead of dealing with IT issues."

The entry form is here. The competition closes on August 31.
