WOW: Samsung’s ultra fast, portable and pocket-size T1 SSD Featured

Originally teased during the S6 launch, Samsung’s T1 USB 3.0 SSD drive has arrived, delivering the future of portable storage today - and it rocks!

Ultra-sleek, protectable via AES 256-bit encryption if desired and with blisteringly fast read/write speeds of 450MB/s over USB 3.0, Samsung’s Portable SSD T1 seriously raises the bar for portable storage devices and comes in 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities.

Those read/write spends are super supersonic because this new Samsung T1 drive uses its ‘award winning’ 3D V-NAND technology, as seen in Samsung’s newest 850 EVO internal SSDs for desktops and notebooks,

However, the T1 is radically smaller than 2.5-inch drives with its 9.6 x 71 x 53 mm dimensions, and noticeably feather light at just 30g.

The T1 is pre-formatted using the exFAT file system, which Windows 7 and 8.x and Mac OS X 10.6.6 and up are natively compatible with.

Those still using Windows Vista will find SP1 or SP2 delivered exFAT compatibility while those still on the ancient Windows XP can download Microsoft’s free XP exFAT patch.

The drive can be reformatted if desired, but with exFAT a standard both Windows and Mac agree on, there’s simply no need.

Todd Lynton, Samsung Australia’s Director of Business Solutions said: “The Samsung Portable SSD T1 is a beautifully designed piece of technology that will offer Australians a completely new experience when it comes to Samsung SSD solutions.

“We’ve developed these products through rigorous research and development in storage technology to include fast file transfer speeds, data encryption for security, and in a sleek lightweight design that can easily fit into a pocket. “Many professionals across multiple industries require fast, efficient and portable digital memory and storage, whether they’re storing folders of high-resolution images, 4K/UHD video files, or presentations and design files.

“We’re extremely excited to deliver a portable SSD solution to the Australian market that will meet these demands in such a stylish format,” Lynton added.

The T1 drive is embedded with a security system that uses an AES 256 bit encryption algorithm to help secure data that can be accessed with a single password.

Unsurprisingly, the T1 has earned Samsung numerous international design awards in overseas markets, most notably the CES Innovation Awards, an annual competition honouring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology products; the iF Design Award, a global summit focused on recognising design in products that are easy to understand and intuitive to operate, and the Red Dot Award in Germany, one of the world’s largest and most recognised professional design competition for design concept and prototypes worldwide. Coming with a three-year warranty, the T1 is available from Harvey Norman and resellers.

The 250GB model is $269, the 500GB model is $429 and the 1TB model is $799.

Those prices are clearly more expensive than traditional hard drives, and they’re also more expensive than buying Samsung’s own 850 EVO internal SSDs and putting them into a slim USB 3.0 case.

But when you get to see a Samsung SSD T1 for yourself, it is in a class of its own, and at its unbeatable size and weight, worth every extra stylish penny.

Naturally, the USB 3.0 drive also works with USB 2.0 ports.

Check out the drive for yourself at your closest reseller and prepare to be blown away!
