The company said in a statement on Tuesday that the Stay Connected Cap Plan would include 3GB of mobile data plus unlimited national voice calls and SMS, and be available for three months.
Existing Vodafone Consumer Postpaid Voice customers and Business customers on Red or Red Plus plans are eligible to apply for the plan, via the company's website.
The plan is a SIM-only month-to-month one.
“We recognise this is a very stressful time for many of our customers who have lost employment or income as a result of COVID-19, and we are a key part of their support network,” he said.
“This plan will allow customers to stay connected to the people important to them and the services they need, without worrying about their phone bill.”
The announcement is the latest in a series of measures Vodafone has taken to help customers during the coronavirus pandemic.
Other conditions of the new plan:
- Customers will need to show proof of financial difficulty;
- After three months customers will be returned to their existing plan; and
- Payments on device (such as phones and tablets) and/or accessory plans will still be due.
