Vodafone drops prepaid international rates

Vodafone has reduced its international call rates for prepaid customers to 12 countries including Thailand, Sri Lanka and more.

The telco announced the new rates today, which are:

Vodafone also said it would be running a deal for prepaid customers, giving them 250MB of data for all international recharges of $20 and above, which is valid for 30 days from sign-up.

That offer will run until 3 March.

The telco also said it will continue to offer its $1 capped calls from India, China, the USA and Singapore to customers who buy a recharge card of $10 or more. Under the same offer, New Zealand and the UK are also capped at $1 but only for landline calls, with mobile rates charged at $0.30 per minute in addition to flagfall.

“Our prepaid customers want to be able to call family and friends overseas without worrying about the calls chewing through their credit. We’ve seen an increase in mobile to mobile calls internationally and we want to make it more affordable for our customers to stay connected,” a spokesperson said.

“Australia is a multi-cultural country and we’re proud of that. Vodafone is one of the biggest telecommunications companies in the world and we are passing on our international advantage to our customers by offering them the best rates in the Australia,” she said.

As we reported earlier this month Vodafone added six Asian nations to its $5 daily international roaming plan to include China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan and Thailand.
