Twitter updates its Android app

Android Tweeters have woken up to a new update to the company's official app today, with some minor changes occurring overnight.

According to the change log on the Play Store, Android users can now "join conversations with a new reply composer". The built-in Tweet composer pops up when users tap to see details.

Another new feature for Android users is the new ability to share tweets using direct messages. Simply press the 'share' icon on on a tweet's details page, and the option to share it via direct message will appear.

Twitter has also added a modified in-line conversation view, allowing people who follow each other to view their conversation from the main feed.

But, for this feature to operate properly everyone in the conversation must follow each other, according to Twitter.

On top of all this, and perhaps a little more controversially, All Things D is reporting the iOS and Android apps now attach a warning label to any questionable media attached to a tweet.

Twitter says it’s a way to keep stuff like “nudity, violence, or medical procedures” from popping up in your stream unannounced.

The censored image that caused All Things D to look into the new 'feature' was an innocent photo of Al Sharpton and his new girlfriend.

The new Android Twitter app can be downloaded here.
