Take Note, Samsung fans, as it’s GOLD 4 Telstralia! Featured

By

Australia’s biggest telco is launching Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 in black, white and bronze gold, with Australia’s biggest smartphone sales pitch - the chance to win $25,000 in gold bullion bars. Shiny!

The long awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is finally going on pre-order at Telstra on Monday the 27th of October after an earlier delay, with Telstra’s pricing finally announced, as you’ll shortly read.

Telstra notes that the Note 4 is notable for being “capable of doing some amazing things on our network when it comes to speed” thanks to 4GX LTE-A support in areas that offer it through access to Telstra’s 700MHz spectrum.

Indeed, Telstra published a few reasons as to why 700MHz 4G connectivity is so important, as more spectrum means more devices accessing the wireless network doing more things at the same time - more streaming and less buffering, all while doing things in other apps with no slow downs.

It means better coverage in the bush, even better than the previous and still available 850MHz Next G network offers, and better in-building coverage in lifts, car parks, offices, bedrooms and elsewhere in the cities.

It also means crowded areas aren’t likely to be crowding out the 700MHz network, or at least not yet, as you’ll be one of the few people with one of the latest devices able to take advantage of this new faster frequency.

So, that just part of what Note 4 owners on Telstra can expect from the network. The super smartphone itself has that stunning Quad HD Amoled screen, a fast charging feature to go from almost nothing to 50% full in only 30 minutes and Samsung’s now-famous S Pen with 2048 points of pressure sensitivity for the closest “pen on paper” that “stylus on glass” can offer in 2014!

There’s also the wide angle front facing camera so Ellen’s next star-studded selfie can squeeze even more stars into it.

But what about Gold for Telstralia?

Well, Telstra isn’t using that term, it’s just my mind going into overdrive as per usual (as opposed to HAL’s mind just, well, going), with Telstra’s competition to win a whopping $25,000 worth of gold bullion bars running for a tantalising three months from the Note 4’s launch.

Telstra says you need but leave a comment at its blog (linked here), or leave a post for the competition on Telstra’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram sites/apps telling Telstra what you would do if you won the gold!

Telstra says “the most creative response wins and be sure to read the terms and conditions before you enter!”

Here’s Telstra’s pricing:

- $12/mth device repayment when you stay connected for 24 months on a $70 Mobile Accelerate Plan (min cost $1968 ($82/mth) excess data 3c/MB, 2 min standard call $2.38)

- $18/mth device repayment when you stay connected for 24 months on a $65 Easy Share Business Plan (min cost $1992 ($83/mth) excess data 3c/MB, 2 min standard call $2)

Those pre-ordering (which really is just “ordering”, isn’t it) will get a “$100 eftpos Gift Card as a gift with purchase”.

Another “making it easy for you” bonus for those who decide to take up the Note 4 on a $70 or above Mobile Accelerate Plan will also get:

- Telstra’s New Phone Feeling® for no additional charge (normally $10/mth); and

- Your choice of 1GB extra data or $1,000 extra talk to standard Australian numbers, all to use in Australia every month.

To “pre”-order over at Telstra, visit this part of its site!

Post-orders are probably you’ll have to ask Australian Post about though, but I’m sure if you go into an Australia Post to ask about post-ordering a Galaxy Note 4 they’ll probably look at you funny and call for security, so don’t do that.

But do check out Telstra’s blog and more up above it you want to be in it to win it and get the next best thing to your own Wonka-like golden ticket, except made from bullion bars that are much, much thicker than your standard ticket sticker.
