The companies are collaborating to improve communications at the hospital which is the largest eye, ear, nose, throat and face specialist day surgery in Australia, and part of Presmed Australia.
Presmed deployed Spectralink enterprise-grade in-building wireless smartphones which, through interoperability with unified communication platforms, integrated with the hospital’s existing Fortinet wireless Wi-Fi network.
The decision to deploy Spectralink and Wavelinkwas taken after the Chatswood Private Hospital, the only one of its kind in Sydney, experienced high demand and moved from its original two-theatre location to a new, custom-built, and larger state-of-the-art facility, creating communication challenges for the medical team.
“He recommended that Wavelink deliver an end-to-end solution comprising of a wireless network and Spectralink smartphones that met our complete needs.
“Wavelink's Health Practice worked with us to design a solution consisting of a Fortinet wireless network combined with Spectralink wireless PIVOT 8742 smartphones, all of which were delivered by Wavelink partner Quorum Systems."
Ashish Sharma, chief marketing officer, Spectralink, said the company was working with Chatswood Private Hospital in transitioning clinical workflows to its PIVOT platform.
Ilan Rubin, managing director, Wavelink, said the premise of the company’s health practice was to build solutions from use cases that improve patient care and drive operational efficiency, “and this was what we delivered for Chatswood Private Hospital”.
Cronin said the hospital implemented Spectralink PIVOT 8742 smartphones, because they are ideal for a clinical environment, using an ergonomic, intuitive touch screen based on the Android platform.
“Through Spectralinks CSI programme, our smartphones also interoperate with the existing Fortinet wireless network on a dedicated 5GHz band, preventing interference with the hospitals' free patient Wi-Fi, preserving bandwidth and ensuring quality voice connections every time."
